Spring is the perfect time of year to take a look at our bodies and see how we are feeling overall.

If you are looking to add a bit more pep to your step, detoxification is a great way for you to achieve that.

When you detoxify, you are targeting your liver, which is the main organ for detoxification.

By detoxifying, your liver flushes out the toxins in your body and leaves you feeling much better.

For detoxification, there are five ways of how you can flush the toxins out of your system.

They can be referred to as the 5 P’s of detoxification:

1- Poop
2-Pee
3-Perspire
4-Phlegm
5-Pulmonary function

Our Bodies Are Full Of Toxins

According to the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency), the average individual living in modern society is exposed to about 82,000 chemicals in any given week.

Of those 82,000 chemicals, less than 30% have been tested to see if they are safe or not.

That means that we are exposed to different amounts of chemicals that we have no idea what their side effects will be and how they will harm our bodies.

The chemicals that we are constantly exposed to will eventually cause problems with our bodies.

We all have different thresholds or capacities that we can handle, but once we reach our limits, our bodies begin to show the signs of the toxins that are circulating in our bodies.

Some of the side effects might be acne or achy joints or brain fog.

Benefits Of A Detox

When our body is full of all of the toxins, we need to get them out in order to become the best version of ourselves.

This is when we need to detoxify.

A detoxification cleanse may seem overwhelming or may appear to be too intimidating. But, once you start, you will love the way the cleanse makes you feel and you will love the results you see.

Regan shares his experience of the first time he did a cleanse and the results he had.

He fasted for twenty-four hours.

Then, he drank a bit of olive oil and went on a light jog.

Just from that small detox, he had mental clarity and overall, felt much better.

Liver Enhancement Detox

At East West, we offer a detoxification that is focused on liver enhancement.

The detox is designed to last for 14 days.

The first thing you are going to do is to get rid of sugar.

Next, you are going to get rid of any animal protein. Animal protein is hard for your body to digest and your liver needs a break.

Then, you are going to add in the vegetables. Vegetables are going to be the bulk of your detox.

The vegetables that you eat for the detox are cruciferous vegetables.

A few examples of the vegetables to eat during the detox are asparagus, carrots, brussel sprouts, zucchini, cucumbers, kale, and spinach.

During the detox, you are going to eat about 1-2 pounds of vegetables a day.

During the detox, you will eliminate rice and carbohydrates from your diet.

This will give your liver another break from processing these types of foods.

Hydration Is Key

An important thing to keep in mind during the detox is to stay hydrated.

If you do not stay hydrated during the detox, you will not be able to feel the full effects of the detox and your results will not be as great.

A drink that we recommend that will help you stay hydrated is our cranberry drink.

The cranberry drink is a mixture containing cranberry juice, lemon, and apple cider vinegar.

The drink should be taken three times a day. First thing in the morning, before lunch, and before dinner.

Healthy fats are acceptable during the detox. Fats such as avocados, olive oil, and nuts are a great addition during the detox.

Be sure to not over indulge on the healthy fats since that will have an adverse effect on the detox.

In order to stick to the detox, it is best to bring a snack with you and have them readily available.

This will eliminate the temptation to eat other things that are not part of the detox.

Always have water or your cranberry drink handy. Have a package of nuts available as well as sliced cucumbers, carrots, celery, or hummus.

Sticking to the detox will help you feel better and perform better in life!
