Many conventional diagnostic tests used are simply not sensitive enough to detect disease patterns in the body until it is too late. Our bodies are very well equipped with back up systems that keep us from experiencing symptoms until the back up organs and glands get fatigued. For example, in a peri-menopausal woman when the ovaries start to decline, the adrenals “kick-in” to produce the hormones that the ovaries are no longer producing. If the adrenals are healthy then the menopausal transition will be very smooth. If the adrenals are already overworked then performing another “job” in the body will be neigh impossible and you may experience symptoms such as hot flashes, insomnia, depression and anxiety.
This interaction is constantly occurring in our bodies and because of this we are incredibly adaptable organisms when we are healthy. The key is to remove the imbalances in the body before they ever become symptoms. It is already too late when symptoms arrive. Below are some medical examples of this phenomenon.
LIVER DISEASE:
- “The blood albumin (protein) concentration is usually normal in chronic liver diseases until cirrhosis and significant liver damage is present.”
Reference: Common Laboratory Tests in Liver Disease/Howard J. Worman M.D.
- “..cirrhosis (advanced scarring of the liver) patients may have minimally abnormal or even normal liver function tests.”
- “…patients with normal levels may have significant liver damage. Recent studies have demonstrated that chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis diagnosed on liver biopsy showed normal liver enzymes.”
Reference: LIVER DISEASE Diagnosis and Management by Bacon and DiBisceglie
- “The liver’s ability to perform its usual functions becomes seriously compromised when scarring from cirrhosis has replaced over 80 percent of the liver tissue. With fewer liver cells remaining to produce and release enzymes, transaminase levels drop to normal or below normal. Protein synthesis similarly decreases, causing albumin and the blood clotting proteins to drop as well. Ammonia levels and bilirubin rise, as the liver loses its ability to efficiently remove them from the system.”

HEART DISEASE:
- “What is the reliability of a Regular Stress Test? If a patient is able to achieve the target heart rate, a regular treadmill stress test is capable of diagnosing important disease in approximately 67% or 2/3 rd of patients with coronary artery disease. The accuracy is lower (about 50%) when patients have narrowing in a single coronary artery or higher (greater than 80%) when all three major arteries are involved. Approximately 10% of patients may have a “false-positive” test (when the result is falsely abnormal in a patient without coronary artery disease). ”

ADRENAL FUNCTION TESTS:
- “Adrenal deficiency does not become clinically manifest until 9/10ths of the adrenal tissue has been rendered unresponsive.”

- “..the patient may live through a prolonged period of less apparent hormonal deficiency-a period during which secretion is adequate for everyday requirements, inadequate only when special stresses, such as operation, trauma, or infection, lead to crisis.”
